If you haven’t been to Mimi Blue Meatballs… I’m fairly certain you need to rethink your life’s choices. Open only a few short weeks, Mimi Blue Meatballs, or M.B.M. for the sake of brevity, is sure to become a staple among many greats (R Bistro, Black Market) on the north end of Mass Ave. Trndy Indy was lucky enough to sit down with co-owner, Michael Kosene, to get the “tea” on what has made M.B.M. an instant success, and a deliciously Trndy place to dine.

Why meatballs?

The concept is unique, and not often seen in Indiana. Inspired by Mimi Bluestein Kosene (Michael’s Grandma), delicious meatballs were always a part of the Kosene family tradition. Paired with a chic, New York themed decor, M.B.M. serves mouth watering comfort food those from all over the city can enjoy.

What did we devour?

Meatballs, duh. But really, M.B.M. boasts a “build your own” menu that allows you to customize a tasty dish to your liking. With over a year of testing recipes before even opening, M.B.M. offers a variety of traditional to adventurous meatballs and sauces that all leave you wanting to come back for more.

We ordered the following:

  • The Classic: Classic Meatballs smothered in Bolognese over Linguini
  • The Vegetarian: Veggie Meatball Slider covered in Spicy Cilantro sauce
  • Special Meatball of the Week: Korean Bourbon BBQ Pork Meatball Slider

Ok, so I know M.B.M. is a meatball joint, BUT…. the sides were tasty enough to make you want to slap your mama.

  • Mac & Queso! Mac & Queso! Mac & Queso! (I’m going back just for more of this!!!)
  • Fried Brussel Sprouts

The best part?

I could afford it! The average meal, sans alcohol, is about $12 – $15.

Between the great location, delicious food, and warm/welcoming atmosphere, Mimi Blue Meatballs is that perfect atmosphere to meet up with friends and family, and let the good times roll for hours.
