The Indy Froot Harvest Comes Early with the Help of Marina and the Diamonds

This week, Wednesday at 7:30pm to be exact, Marina and the Diamonds will be serving Naptown a healthy helping of Froot. And while you may be thinking to yourself, “she isn’t even from here…” You’re right, but she will be here – which makes this a concert you won’t want to miss. The Welsh singer-songwriter who claimed mainstream radio fame with her 2012 hit “Primadonna” will be performing at the Egyptian Room in the Old National Centre. The show is one of the first stops on her United States tour supporting her internationally successful third full-length album release, Froot.

Late in 2014, Marina and the Diamonds began to release tracks off her latest release with a unique marketing campaign: each month she released a new song from the record until it’s planned full release. The campaign was cut short after an unfortunate album leak on the internet, however, the album released early and managed to snag a top 10 spot on the Billboard 200. The album is a complete pop production that dances between dreamy earworms, haunting pop ballads and rock inspired synth-pop songs. (Check out one of my favorite tracks below!)

Froot is the most revealing work by Marina and the Diamonds to date. It delivers strong moments of empowerment while also delivering strong doses of realization. She is honest and unforgiving and quite possibly one of the most underrated musical acts in the industry today. It only takes one listen before the raw lyrics and catchy productions hook you. Froot simply delivers all the feels.

And probably the best news you’ll read all day: there are still tickets available for her show this Wednesday. It was hinted early on that the tour would have an intimate acoustic vibe, which is even more of an incentive to check out the show. Her vocals soar when paired striped down productions. You will get chills, maybe even cry. So snatch a ticket up before they are gone and enjoy yourself an early harvest of Froot by one of the world’s best pop stars.
