Tunes at Twilight brings together good music, good beer and a good cause

With a new 5k for a cause popping up every weekend Outrun the Sun invites you to a fundraiser that doesn’t require you to lace up your running shoes.

Outrun the Sun, founded in Indianapolis just over 10 years ago and Indiana’s only nonprofit benefiting skin cancer education and melanoma research, wants Hoosiers to enjoy an evening with good friends, good beer and good music all while joining the fight against skin cancer. Tunes at Twilight will feature a performance by local singer-songwriter, Chad Mills, at Daredevil Brewing Co. on Sunday, Oct 4 at 6 pm. Admission is $5, paid at the door. Come in take a seat, enjoy the music and the cold beer while your admission fee goes towards Outrun the Sun’s skin cancer education programs and Melanoma Research Scholars.

Skin cancer is the second most common type of cancer in people ages 15-29. It is Outrun the Sun’s mission to build awareness around the disease by educating communities about prevention and funding researchers to find a cure. Teaming up with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and IndyCar, Outrun the Sun launched the largest one-day sun safety initiative in the United States at the Indianapolis 500. Over 300,000 race fans have the opportunity to see and hear sun safety messages that day in May.

Outrun the Sun is also proud to provide seed funding to 16 melanoma research scholars across the country at universities such as Mayo Clinic, Harvard Institutes of Medicine, New York University, Kimmel Cancer Center and more. With the help of Outrun the Sun, these innovative research projects are searching for new therapies and treatments.

Skin cancer is the most prevalent cancer in America and it is also the most preventable. Sadly, one American dies of melanoma, which is the most serious form, every hour. To date Outrun the Sun has raised over 1 million dollars through their largest fundraising event the Outrun the Sun Race Against Melanoma. Join Outrun the Sun on October 4 at 6 pm for Tunes at Twilight and join the fight against skin cancer while sipping a beer and listening to great music.
